Gateway Clinic provides ongoing, relationship-based primary care like what you would receive from a family physician or nurse practitioner. We are not a walk-in clinic or an urgent care centre.
As a patient, you will receive care from an interprofessional team that includes learners from a range of health professions. Learners are supervised by experienced clinicians and are active members of your care team. Their involvement often means more time with you, additional perspectives, and care that continues to evolve and improve.
To be seen at Gateway, you must be an eligible patient and have an appointment. Appointments can be booked in advance, and urgent appointments may be available if you need to be seen the same day.

What makes Gateway different
The Gateway Team-Based Care Teaching Clinic is currently welcoming new patients through British Columbia’s centralized attachment system.
To join our clinic, you’ll need to register with the Health Connect Registry — a provincial program that helps match patients with a family doctor or nurse practitioner in their community.
Please note: you must be registered through the Health Connect Registry to be considered for attachment.
1. Register online
Visit the Health Connect Registry and complete your registration.
2. Wait to Be Matched
Once registered, your information will be reviewed and securely shared with clinics in your area that are accepting new patients.
3. Clinic Contact
If you are matched with our clinic, our team will contact you directly with next steps to complete your intake and book your first appointment.
What to expect
Your first visit will feel a little different from a typical clinic appointment, but in a good way. Depending on your needs, you may meet with more than one member of your care team. Everyone involved in your care collaborates and communicates with each other, so you do not have to repeat yourself.
At Gateway, you’re considered a key member of your own care team. We’ll work together, building on what matters to you to support your health journey. You will play an active role in your care, contributing more than just a list of your symptoms.
